The complete restoration and refurbishment of a Victorian semi-detached house in Balham, SW London.

The design aim was to achieve a contemporary response to the Victorian floor plan, with a wrap around extension to the rear that joined roof light to window in order to maximise the light, and created a space that welcomed the family’s changing needs. A mansard roof extension created a new principal bedroom suite.

Natural materials such as wood, brick and marble were combined with a simple palette of colours to add richness and texture to the interior spaces, with large aluminium framed glazing to the new rear extension that creates a seamless connection to the outside.
